In a recent interview, Chino Moreno also revealed that Dj Shadow, Clams Casino, and Trevor Jackson are among the confirmed producers contributing to the project.
Earlier this summer Deftones revealed that along with a 20th anniversary reissue of White Pony, there was also a remix album in the works.
During an early summer digital presser, Abe, Chino, and Frank discussed the initial idea of the remix album that originated some two decades ago.
Frank Delgado recalled one of the earliest encounters with DJ Shadow. “We actually hit [Shadow] up before we even wrote the album,” recalled Delgado. “He was playing in [Sacramento]. I was opening for him. Me and Chino kind of cornered him at the Cattle Club. He looked at us like we were fucking crazy. He asked, ‘Deftones? Are you guys ska?’”
In a recent interview with Vulture, Chino confirmed three of the producers involved with remixing songs the on the remix album entitled, Black Stallion.
Moreno revealed, “Trevor Jackson did an awesome remix. I was so stoked on it. It’s almost hard to figure out what song it is. I love remixes like that, where it’s a whole new take. So him, DJ Shadow, Clams Casino, people whose music I liked and I like working with.”
