The BabyKlok Tour kicks off later this summer building to the big screen, star-studded return of ‘Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar’

Adult Swim’s cult favorite Metalocalypse has announced a massive rollout for the return of the beloved animated metal heroes.

A new feature length film, Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar, produced by Titmouse, Adult Swim, and Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment. will arrive later this year. The project was written and directed by series creator Brendon Small. Additionally, the film will come packaged with an accompanying soundtrack as Dethalbum IV marks the band’s first full length release since 2013’s The Doomstar Requiem.

Adding to the monumental year for Dethklok, the band will tour for the first time in 11 years with the announcement of the BabyKlok Tour 2023. The 29-date run across the United States will include appearances at Blue Ridge Rock Fest in Alton, VA., Louder Than Life in Louisville, KY., and a set at Aftershock in Sacarmento, CA this fall.

The tandem of Dethklok and Babymetal begin their run on August 30th in Houston, TX., and close out with a finale in Los Angeles, CA., bringing down the house at the YouTube Theater. Virtuoso guitarist Jason Richardson will serve as the tour’s opening support.

“It’s very surreal having so much new ‘Metalocalypse’ and DETHKLOK this year with the trifecta of the tour, movie and album,” said Small. “I’m so excited to get on the road with the powerful BABYMETAL, and to celebrate all the hard work that team ‘Metalocalypse’ and DETHKLOK put in over the last two years and beyond!”

As for the big screen return of Dethklok, Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar will feature a stacked ensemble cast supporting Brendon Small, Tommy Blacha, Victor Brandt of the Metalocalypse crew. Among the luminaries of film and music confirmed as part of the cast include Stephen “Thundercat” Bruner, King Diamond, Mark Hamill, Kirk Hammet, Jon Hamm, Scott Ian, and Amy Lee just to name a few.

A initial synopsis of the film explains that Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar, “begins after the heroic rescue of Toki Wartooth; DETHKLOK frontman Nathan Explosion finds himself traumatized in a BRUTAL professional and romantic flat-spin, all while he is tasked with fulfilling the prophecy and confronting the ultimate songwriting challenge to save the planet.”
