The first trek back since the passing of Trevor Strnad will feature supporting sets from Terror, Frozen Soul, Fuming Mouth, and Phobophilic.
In what will no doubt be a bittersweet experience, death metal champions The Black Dahlia Murder have confirmed they will return to touring with the announcement of their Verminous Remnant Tour spring tour. The run will serve as the final stretch of live dates for their Verminous touring cycle and mark the band’s first tour since the tragic passing of beloved frontman, Trevor Strnad.
The run will begin with the band’s highly-anticipated appearance at Decibel Metal & Beer Fest in Philadelphia, PA. and will continue for a massive 34-date jaunt that will tout an impressive collection of supporting artists spanning death metal and hardcore.
The Verminous Remnant Tour will showcase support from hardcore legends Terror, Texas death metal standouts Frozen Soul, the Mark Whelan-led Fuming Mouth and North Dakota prospects Phobophilic. The tour begins April and runs through late May, closing out with a finale in Minneapolis, MN on May 26th.
The band recently celebrated the life and legacy of their founding vocalist with their first show back since his passing with a hometown show in October of 2022. Reconfiguring the band’s existing personnel, The Black Dahlia Murder founding member in guitarist Brian Eschbach made the shift as frontman for the band. Resuming his post with BDM, former guitarist Ryan Knight has again joined rank and picked up his instrument for the band once again. The determination was one that the band found difficult to reach, but felt was crucial in carrying on the legacy of one of metal music’s most charismatic voices.
In an excerpt from the Decibel Magazine feature that announced the band’s initial return, the guys explained how their future remained uncertain and even the discussion of how to proceed was a subject that was tough to broach. “We spent many days thinking things like, ‘Is this over?’” Eschbach tells Decibel. “None of us wanted it to be over. We still feel like there is a lot left to do. I know Trevor would keep this band going if I went down a deep, dark path and weren’t here. It’s bigger than us. When we finally started talking about it, we thought, ‘Let’s remake it from within and see if Ryan wants to return. And I’ll take a crack on the vocals and see how it goes.’ I can’t go out there and do Trevor’s voice or try to be him. I can only execute the music of the Black Dahlia Murder with respect and try to do it the most justice I can. I’ve heard Trevor perform more than anyone else alive.”
