The Cure’s Robert Smith transforms Deftones’ ‘Teenager’ into an ethereal gem

Posted by Ramon Gonzales in News on December 3, 2020

Listen to one of the most anticipated collaborations from Deftones commemorative Black Stallion remix effort of their seminal White Pony LP.

Ahead of the release of the hotly-anticipated Black Stallion remix LP, Deftones have shared the entry from The Cure’s Robert Smith.

Trying his hand at with the White Pony track “Teenager,” Smith has submitted a transformative selection that could arguably be one of the best on the record.

“It’s amazing to hear Robert rework one of our songs and sneak his voice in there,” Deftones frontman Chino Moreno shared with NME. “If you’d have told me that when I was 15-years-old, I would have lost my fucking mind and not believed a word you were saying. It was a dream.”

The release of the Smith reimagining follows previous reveals in the Mike Shinoda treatment of “Passenger” and Purity RIng’s take on “Knife Prty”

The album is slated to drop December 11th and will include a dynamic roster of collaborators including DJ Shadow, Phantogram, Squarepusher, Clams Casino and Salve to name a few.
