The band premiered the video during their livestreaming fundraising event for the Armenia Fund and the Armenia Wounded Heroes Fund
System of a Down set the internet ablaze late last year with the release of a pair of singles in “Protect The Land” and “Genocidal Humanoidz”.
The new material served as the first fresh offering in some 15 years from the band, prompted to get to work by their collective sense of civic duty. Sharing that the sings served as an outlet as a call to action the band explained that the music allowed them to, “speak of a dire and serious war being perpetrated upon our cultural homelands of Artsakh and Armenia.”
The tracks ultimately became a means of generating funds and resourced for ongoing humanitarian efforts in the region through non-profit organizations like the Armenia Fund. The initial release of the pair of singles generated some $600,000USD for the cause.
Over the weekend, the band continued their efforts to aide the region with a special livestreaming event that was hosted by Serj Tankian, John Dolmayian, and Shavo Odadjian. Featuring civic leaders and dignitaries all contributing to the relief work in Armenia, the band also premiered their new video for “Genocidal Humanoidz”.
The video was directed by Shavo Odadjian and Adam Mason and features animation from Deep Sky, meshed with stylized performance footage of the band. The complete livestreaming event is now available to stream – Most Recent Stories on KNOTFEST.com
