Architects, Don Broco, Trivium and Spiritbox lead the field of nominees for the sixth annual Heavy Music Awards

Posted by Ramon Gonzales in News on March 8, 2022

Public voting for the ceremony’s 11 categories opens Wednesday March 9th with Bring Me The Horizon, Turnstile, Code Orange, Wargasm, A Day To Remember, Sleep Token and Gojira among the list of finalists.

Among the most prominent stages in all of heavy culture, the sixth annual Heavy Music Awards have revealed their 2022 field of nominees and the aggregate of artists offers an impressive snapshot of the health and diversity of the community.

Once again teaming with Amazon Music UK, the HMAs continue to serve as a beacon of artistry, celebrating the contributions of trailblazers and creatives in the space of outsider art and alternative culture. Sourcing a keenly knowledgable, proactively immersed panel of some 700 industry tastemakers to determine the nominees, the Heavy Music Awards doubles down on it’s emphasis of indepdence and democracy by turning over the 11 categories entirely to the fans.

Starting Wednesday March 9th at 2pm GMT, the greater community of heavy culture will be able to cast their vote via VOTE.HEAVYMUSICAWARDS.COM to help determine which artists should take home the hardware for honors including Best Album, Best Artist, Best Single and Best Video, Best Podcast and Best Breakout Artist of the Year – just to name a few.

Leading the field of 2022 Heavy Music Awards nominees, metalcore titans Architects, the wildly-inventive Don Broco, metal powerhouse Trivium and phenoms in Spiritbox each came away with four nods apiece. Fresh off of career years, UK collectives Bullet For My Valentine, Holding Absence and While She Sleeps also each tallied three nominations tied to their most recent releases as well.

Rounding out the comprehensive field of honorees, international sensations like Bring Me the Horizon, A Day To Remember, Mastodon, and Gojira, are in the same company with emerging sensations like Pupil Slicer, Code Orange, Turnstile and Vended. The diversity within the field of finalists underscores an auspicious forecast for what is on the horizon in heavy music.

Voting for HMA22 opens at 2pm GMT on Wednesday March 9th 2022 at vote.heavymusicawards.com and closes at 5pm on April 22nd, 2022.

All voters will be entered into a ballot for tickets to the ceremony on Sunday June 5th, 2022 at O2 Forum Kentish Town, London.
