The rock god confides that the project is a 20-years in the making team come true.

Earlier this spring, the rumor mill began to manifest a possible film adaptation of the classic television series, ‘The Munsters’ with rock and roll deadman Rob Zombie at the helm. Now, Zombie has put the rumors to bed with a confirmation via his social media platform.

Confiding in the caption that the project has been a dream some 20-years in the making, Rob Zombie also showed his hand in the caption by revealing hat Universal is involved in the project via the hashtags. Though ‘The Musters’ culture has permeated Zombie’s work before, “Dragula” is a reference to the family car, it will be interesting to see how the same man that directed ‘House of a 1000 Corpses’ and the ‘Halloween’ remake will treat a tongue-in-cheek comedy about a nuclear family of monsters.

As reported via Blabbermouth, Zombie’s take on ‘The Munsters’ is said to have began filming in May and will feature Sheri Moon Zombie, Zombie’s wife, as Lily Munster. Jeff Daniel Phillips will star as Herman Munster. The ensemble cast will also reportedly include Richard Brake, Dan Roebuck, Jorge Garcia and Cassandra “Elvira” Peterson.

Back in April, Bloody Disgusting reported that the reboot of ‘The Munsters’ could potentially function as an exclusive via NBC’s Peacock streaming service. The concept was to follow the model set by Warner Bros. and their partnership with HBO Max. While there are currently no further details that have been revealed, the rumors thus far have panned out pretty well.

The news of the film project follows Zombie’s recent return to musical form with his seventh full length studio album, The Lunar Injection Kool Aid Eclipse Conspiracy. The album is currently available via Nuclear Blast Records – HERE
