With Andrew Watt taking home top honors as the producer of the year for his work on Ozzy Osbourne’s ‘Ordinary Man’

The 63rd annual Grammy Awards took place over the weekend and while the heavy spectrum of music was lean in the presentation, there were certainly important takeaways from the annual awards show.

LA’s Body Count, led by hip hop icon Ice-T, walked away with ‘Best Metal Performance’ for their track “Bum Rush” from their seventh album, Carnivore. The Wil Putney produced effort serves as a milestone in the band’s more than three decade tenure, culminating in the Grammy win, the first in Body Count’s career.

The remaining artists that were nominated alongside Body Count included, Code Orange for “Underneath,” In This Moment for “The In-Between,” Poppy for “Bloodmoney,” and a posthumous nomination for frontman Riley Gale with Power Trip earning a nod for “Executioner’s Tax (Swing of the Axe) (Live). Body Count’s proved particularly significant in that Gale was also featured on the Carnivore album for the collaboration track in “Point the Finger”.

In addition to Body Count’s triumph, producer Andrew Watt also took home top honors for his efforts at Producer of the Year. Regarded as one of the most exciting professionals in the game, Watt’s talent is credited with making Ozzy Osbourne’s ‘Ordinary Man’ such a formative record.
