DOWN set to perform for the first time in 4 years

Posted by Ramon Gonzales in News on August 3, 2020

The NOLA sludge legends are rumored to be planning a streaming concert for August 22nd.

According to a report filed by Blabbermouth, DOWN are in the planning stage of a live-streamed return to the stage later this month.

If true, the performance will mark the first time since 2016 the band has come together live.

The band has been in headlines recently after Windstein gave a vague mention of something in the works during an interview with Revolver. “The main thing was trying to do the European festivals and Psycho Las Vegas[in Las Vegas]. Psycho Las Vegas was pushed back a year, and, obviously, the European festivals were all canceled. So I have no idea what’s in the future. We’re working on something really special here in the next few months that I’m excited about, and that’s all I can really say. I’m super excited to get together with all the guys again.”

2020 included a collection of festival plays with a highly-anticipated appearance at Psycho Las Vegas (the festival has since been postponed to 2021) alongside Mercyful Fate, Danzig, Emperor, and more. The core of Philip Anselmo, Pepper Keenan and Kirk Windstein are marking their 25th anniversary.

The news broke during an appearance from the band’s manger, Dave Sabo, during the August 2nd episode MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson’s Internet show. Sabo confirmed the news with the following, “They’re actually gonna be doing one of those streaming live shows August 22nd. So we’ll have more information out online as that progresses, as we get closer.”

The video from the appearance can be seen/streamed below. Sabo’s reveal finds it’s way into the conversation at about the 44:00 minute mark.
