In what has become the closing ceremonies of the festival season, the gathering at Sacramento’s Discovery Park in Aftershock has evolved into a four-day culmination celebrating the year in rock music. Assembling a bill that packages the premiere artists in the space, coupled with cult favorites and emerging voices, Aftershock showcases the kind of line-up that fans eagerly anticipate every year – for good reason.

While the numbers for the banner’s 2021 installment – after a two year forced hiatus – welcomed nearly 150,000 revelers onto the festival grounds, the 2022 tallies are nothing short of staggering. The record-setting 2021 solidified Aftershock as one of the global destinations for heavy culture – prompting fans to expect the gold standard in rock music from the brand. 2022 exceeded all expectations with a bill touting nearly 100 bands and lead by legendary names like KISS, Slipknot, MUSE, and the long-awaited return of My Chemical Romance. When all was said said and done, Aftershock achieved a personal best for their most recent edition, bringing in more than 160,000 attendees over the four day stretch – the most in their 10 year history.

Bolstered by the likes of Rob Zombie, Evanescence, Danzig, Lamb of God, a stellar hometown showing from Papa Roach, plus arena-ready names in their own right like A Day to Remember, Shinedown and Bring Me the Horizon, the marquee value of Aftershock reiterated just why the festival has become an important barometer in the space of alternative music and culture. Spanning four days, four stages and some 95 performances, Aftershock 2022 proved a powerful punctation on a year where the health and diversity of rock music is flourishing. With a line-up underscoring that fact, it’s no wonder fans are already clamoring to see who will head the 2023 edition.
