Following the success of the first leg of their 40th anniversary tour that saw thrash pillars Anthrax team with Black Label Society and Hatebreed for a cross country caravan of crash, the New York legends rolled right into the new year, embarking on a second leg of the tour commemorating four decades of dominance.

Bolstered by the sonic horsepower of Black Label Society and Bay Area thrash institution Exodus, the jaunt has proven to be showcase of timelessness — with all three outfits asserting their rank as both legends and contemporaries.

Charging through a comprehensive set consisting of all greatest hits, Anthrax included catalog essentials like “Among the Living”, “Madhouse”, “I Am the Law”, and their definitive genre crossover smash, “Bring the Noise”. The band also showcased their range with live renditions of jams from the likes of Joe Jackson with their cover of “Got the Time”.

Zakk Wylde lay waste to the Riverside Municipal Auditorium, leading his Black Label Society in a concise set jam-packed with maximum riffage. The legendary guitarist was nothing short of commanding in the kind of supporting set that primed the fans in a powerful way.

Kicking off the evening, Exodus began their set with an offering from their 11th and most recent studio album, Persona Non Grata. “The Beatings Will Continue (Until Morale Improves)” lit the spark that ensured the evening would result in a raging inferno.
