Assembling arguably the most comprehensive bill of genre-defying artists in the space of heavy music, Sick New World took over Las Vegas for the weekend and marked the arrival of another important brand in the world of globally recognized festivals.

Anchored by a holy trinity of bands that defined an era and continue to serve as relevant pillars in heavy music, SNW featured colossal sets from the likes of System of A Down, Deftones and KORN – corralling a trifecta of history-making gamechangers in one fell festival swoop.

Apart from the magnitude of the bill’s top tier, the range of the Sick New World bill was further bolstered by the healthy diversity of the roster’s totality. No shortage of nostalgia with bands like Kittie, Chevelle, Incubus, P.O.D., Sevendust and a reunited Coal Chamber highly positioned, the next generation of bands spawned in the same lineage were also well represented with the likes of H09909, Loathe, Scowl and Spiritbox prominently featured.

The bill brought together energized submissions from festival mainstays like Papa Roach and Turnstile. There were arena rock veterans like Evanescence and Chevelle countered by cult champions like Killing Joke, Cradle of Filth, Mr. Bungle and Skinny Puppy. There was even the occasional wild card included in the fray with Death Grips, She Wants Revenge and 100 Gecs rounding out a bill that offered a strange, but effective stylistic symmetry.
