Squared Circle Pit – Artist Manager Jon King Compares Life of a Pro Wrestler & Musician

Posted by Rob Pasbani in Culture on July 19, 2023

Jonathan King, artist manager at Shelter Music Group, enters the pit and really does a great job talking about the similarities between the life of a wrestler and a touring artist.

Jon talks about his lifelong fandom of pro wrestling, how he got into the music business working at Loudside.com, and the lost art of street teams and compilations. Jon goes into his dipping his toe into wrestling production working with Championship Wrestling from Hollywood. Jon talks about his current role and how scouting bands has changed in today’s landscape. We discuss the comparisons between indie shows like GCW and hardcore shows, and further comparisons between music and pro wrestling. We wrap up the show by discussing the current moment in pro wrestling and Rob’s obsession with Kota Ibushi.

Squared Circle Pit is a podcast hosted by Rob Pasbani exploring the intersection of rock and pro wrestling. More episodes at squaredcirclepit.com
