The University of Pittsburgh to host open-to-the-public virtual event showcasing the George A. Romero Archival Collection

The February 9th event will give horror fans across the globe the chance to access materials from one of the architects of the genre.

On February 9th, the University of Pittsburgh will give fans across the globe unprecedented access to the archival collection of horror filmmaker and pioneer, George A. Romero.

The University libraries acquired the collection back in 2019 and will now host a virtual event and panel discussion that will give zombie and horror enthusiasts the world over the chance to explore never-before-seen material from the innovator’s own stash.

In a statement released boy the university, the event will feature a glimpse into the genius of Romero by exploring his “scripts, treatments, production documents, photos, videos, and more that will change how we see the filmmaker behind Night of the Living Dead.”

The prepared released also added, “Fans will hear about early versions of familiar classics like Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead, scores of unmade projects like War of the WorldsBefore I Wake, Whine of the Faun, and Unholy Fire, collaborations with Stephen King from Creepshow to The Stand and Pet Sematary to The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, unseen photos from behind the scenes of Night of the Living Dead, shooting scripts used on set with Romero’s own handwritten notes and revisions, and much, much more.”
