Amon Amarth begin cryptic online campaign

Posted by Ramon Gonzales in News on May 31, 2022

There is movement in the Amon Amarth camp and the hashtag #TGHA is at the core.

Earlier this year, viking metal legends Amon Amarth made a gargantuan return with the unveiling of their ode to their fans in “Put Your Back Into the Oar.” The first show of force in two years and the first follow up to the band’s 2019’s epic Berserker, the track pays homage to the collective viking row that has become a right of passage for any Amon Amarth live experience.

The single arrived just a few short months after the band’s massive reveal in their Vikings and Lionhearts Tour slated to begin this September across Europe and the UK. The 31-date trek features a rare co-headlining bill which sees Amon Amarth join forces with the indomitable Machine Head.

Now, it seems as though the Swedish specialists of Norse mythology have something in the works and the hashtag #TGHA to be integral to whatever is happening next.

Over the weekend, the band utilized their social media platform with a succession of cryptic posts, all of which made use of the four letter hashtag. Sharing what looks to be artwork along with a map that features the same art along with the warning, “The Vikings Are Coming June 2nd” the location seems to point to York in England – a location rich with Viking lore.

Among the more telling the succession of updates, the photo above is in front of York Minster, the third largest cathedral of it’s kind in North Europe. It seems no coincidence either that this last weekend was also the return of the Jorvik Viking Festival in where else, York, England. Among the additional map points visible from the posts include the city center of Coppergate, as well as the commons of King’s Square – each of which are integral to the city of York.

With the ramp up in activity online, and the obvious point to June 2nd, fans will not have to wait much longer to see just what Amon Amarth has in store next. Stay tuned for updates as all things Amon Amarth will be shared via Knotfest.com
