Anthrax and Black Label Society join forces for 40th anniversary tour

Posted by Ramon Gonzales in News on April 18, 2022

For the first time ever the two metal pillars will share co-headlining duties with special guest Hatebreed joining the party.

Among two of the most important bands still contributing to the culture of heavy music, thrash legends Anthrax and the Doom Crew of Black Label Society have never toured together – until now.

The towering tandem of metal titans have announced the launch of a five week summer trek that will feature a co-headlining performance from both Anthrax and BLS – marking the 40th anniversary of Anthrax.

The band’s Scott Ian weighed in on the pairing many years in the making. “Zakk (Wylde) has been a friend and an inspiration to me as a guitar player, songwriter, and beard grower since we met in 1988,” said Ian.

“We’ve had the privilege to share festival stages with Zakk and BLS around the world, and it’s always been a head-banging mutual admiration society between the two bands. Now we get to share the stage every night on what is easily going to be the heaviest tour of 2022 – the ultimate pounding one-two combination of bands. Oh, and did I mention we’ve got fucking Hatebreed with us as our special guests? Holy crap, it’s going to be the night of 1000 crushing riffs. I can’t wait to see you all on the road.”

Shred specialist Zakk Wylde also offered his excitement of hitting the road with Anthrax. “Anthrax is one of The bestest/legendary metal/thrash band of all time – I have been buds with Scotty, Charlie, Frankie and Joey for over 3O years & they are some of the bestest people you will meet. Jon is the bestest new addition Anthrax could ask for – Hatebreed are The bestest hardcore/extreme metal band and bestest friends with Anthrax and Black Label Society. The Anthrax and Black Label Society and Hatebreed tour is going to be one of the BESTEST TOURS EVER!”

As both mentioned, Hatebreed will be joining the five week run as the tour’s special guest. The run will also serve as an important milestone for the hardcore crossover champions, marking the 20th anniversary of the arrival of their seminal full length gamechamger in the album, Perseverance. Hatebreed frontman Jamey Jasta offered his warning, “Listen up! It’s gonna be a hot summer! Anthrax, BLS and Hatebreed will be on your case, in your face & ready to kick you and your father back in place! See you in the pit.”
