Metalcore heavy hitters August Burns Red have been gearing up for their latest album, Death Below, since last fall. Due out on March 24th, 2023, the follow-up to their critically acclaimed 2020 album Guardians further cements the outfit’s continued evolution as songwriters, storytellers, and one of the most authentic bands in the metalcore scene. Today, they have revealed a fresh taste of the album with new single and video “Backfire”. The band elaborates on the single: “‘Backfire’ is song that musically is a punch in the face, and we wrote the lyrics to follow suit. The song is about choosing who you follow wisely, and not allowing people you’ve never met to influence the decisions you make in life. ‘Backfire’ ticks all the boxes when it comes to an ABR song.”
Death Below is set to include a powerhouse of contributors from the metalcore scene. Among the guests adding their talents to the project include Jesse Leach of Killswitch Engage, guitarist Jason Richardson, JT Cavey of ERRA and Spencer Chamberlain of Underoath.

August Burns Red is also only a few short weeks away from embarking on their 20 Year Anniversary Tour, during which they will play a career-encompassing set, with tracks from all nine of their albums. The first leg of the tour kicks off on February 15th in Silver Spring, Maryland and wraps on March 14th in Charlotte, North Carolina. After a short break, the band will set off for the second leg of the tour, beginning on April 13th in Philadelphia, PA and ending on May 12th in Quebec, Canada. They will be joined by The Devil Wears Prada and Scotland-based Bleed From Within, who will be touring the US for the first time.
