Bad Wolves have parted ways with frontman Tommy Vext

Posted by Ramon Gonzales in News on January 10, 2021

After reports began surfacing that there was a split, the band has confirmed the news with the release of an official statement.

Vocalist Tommy Vext and the band Bad Wolves have officially parted ways.

As initially reported by Metal Sucks, Vext took to his personal Instagram account and went Live to informally break the news that he was no longer a member of the band.

In a video that is no longer available, Vext mentioned that the band was going to continue on without him and his plans included investing in his own solo career. He also made sure to mention that he wrote most of the material for the band’s new record. He didn’t mention whether he was referring to the band’s Nation LP, or the forecasted 2021 release.

As for the source of the split, Vext included that his divisive political views ultimately caused irrevocable friction within the Bad Wolves camp – band and label included. In recent months, Vext has made headlines with his controversial assertions, including undermining the Black Lives matter Movement, referring to racism in America as “Manufactured”.

Vext also took to his social media platform to post messages of support and solidarity with the rioters that took to the US Capitol earlier this week – a day of violence that resulted in four fatalities, multiple injuries, and the first breach of the building in some 200 years.

In addition to the polarization of Vext’s political views, the frontman has also faced recent legal troubles. Vext recently spent time in court for a domestic abuse case involving his former girlfriend Whitney Johns. Johns was granted a two year restraining order, citing incidents of physical abuse from Vext that occurred both during and after their relationship. Vext has denied the allegations.

As for the official statement from Bad Wolves, the specifics were vague at best. While the climate of the relationship between Vext and the band feels contentious, the tone of the statement from the band kept things amicable.

“It is true that Bad Wolves and vocalist Tommy Vext have parted ways,” the bands shared on their social pages. “The four of us plan to continue making music and a new album is planned for later this year. Tommy has been a big part of Bad Wolves and we are grateful for his contributions. There is not much else to report at this moment but to send love and gratitude to the fans who have supported Bad Wolves from day one. We would not be here without you.”
