Bad Wolves have enlisted a familiar face as their new singer

Posted by Ramon Gonzales in News on June 2, 2021

Daniel “DL” Laskiewicz formerly of The Acacia Strain will assume the role of the band’s frontman following the departure of Tommy Vext.

2020 proved to be an especially tumultuous year for Bad Wolves. The band’s former frontman in Tommy Vext became a particularly polarizing figure, sharing some divisive conservative views via his own social media.

In addition, Vext was embroiled in court proceedings with a former girlfriend in Whitney Johns. The case culminated in Johns being granted a domestic violence restraining order against Vext and shortly thereafter, Bad Wolves and Vext parted ways publicly to kick off 2021. While the split was relatively amicable, the suspicion was always that the fracture was the band’s way of distancing themselves from Vext’s more conservative political prospective.

In the weeks following the split, Vext launched a GoFundMe campaign to help bankroll the start of his solo career. Explaining that he has a cache of new songs with the intention of working on a new album with Bad Wolves, the frontman seemed especially motivated to share his own music with the fans.

While the band has since continued to work on their third studio album to follow up the band’s successful 2019 release, N.A.T.I.O.N., the future of the coveted frontman spot was not determined… until now. Taking to their social media to make the announcement, Bad Wolves have enlisted for Acacia Strain guitarist, Daniel “DL” Lasckiewicz to assume the helm.

We are excited to officially announce that Bad Wolves has a new singer – Daniel “DL” Lasckiewicz. DL is a tremendous songwriter and singer, and we can confidently say that the album we are working on, titled ‘Dear Monsters’ is the best Bad Wolves album to date.

DL is one of the most talented and hard-working people we have ever had the pleasure to know. He is a team player, a creative force, and overall a great human being who fits perfectly with our BW family. It feels incredible to be surrounded with such positive energy and the music we’ve made is certainly reflective of this new-found optimism and collaborative spirit. And this new album shows a more cohesive and unique reflection of the band. There is a lot to prove and expectations are high with a new singer coming in. And we nailed it. The songs speak for themselves, and if you’re a Bad Wolves fan we know you won’t be disappointed.

So much has happened since Tommy publicly quit Bad Wolves a few months ago – and we disagree with the validity of much of what he has said publicly about our parting of ways – but we would prefer to not look back on the past and instead focus on this new chapter. And most importantly, we’d like to let the music speak for itself. Thanks for believing in Bad Wolves and please join us in welcoming DL to the family. We can’t wait for you to hear what’s coming.

John, Doc, Chris, Kyle & DL

The history with Bad Wolves and DL dates back to their first collaboration on the band’s sophomore record. In addition to his more than decade long tenure with Acacia Strain, DL has worked with All That Remains and Legion to name a few.

Bad Wolves are expected to release their fourth full length album later this year.
