Behemoth & Satyricon lead the diverse lineup featuring legends and risers in the scene.
The highly anticipated Beyond the Gates Festival is back, and this time with a lineup that promises to be more exhilarating than ever. Slated to take place in Bergen from July 31st to August 3rd, 2024, the festival will once again captivate the metal world with its epic four-day event.
The first wave of the lineup boasts of both legendary artists and rising stars in the underground metal scene. Leading the roster is Behemoth, making their triumphant return to Bergen after a 12-year hiatus. Also joining the lineup is Satyricon, who is gearing up for a new album release next spring and will perform live for the first time in half a decade.
Metal enthusiasts will also be treated to performances by Venom, Watain, and a debut concert from Trelldom, with iconic singer Gaahl. Meanwhile, Vreid is set to commemorate their 30th year, while Norwegian black metal bands Djevel and Dødheimsgard have exclusive sets in store. Rounding out the initial list of performers are Cult of Fire from the Czech Republic, the enigmatic Darkspace from Switzerland, and Polish band Manbryne marking their first concert outside their homeland.
Beyond the spectacular lineup, festival-goers can expect an array of activities, ranging from guided tours and markets to exclusive listening parties and in-depth interviews. Attendees will get an intimate look into the inspirations behind the renowned Norwegian metal scene, alongside the rich local culture of Bergen.
Looking back at the previous event in August, thousands of metalheads gathered in Bergen’s iconic venues, such as the legendary Grieghallen. Memorable acts included Enslaved’s complete performance of Eld, rare sets from Taake, Gorgoroth, Mare, and a special 30th-anniversary set from Dimmu Borgir.
Moreover, the previous festival offered more than just music. From wine tasting sessions with Gaahl, a photo exhibition by black metal photographer Peter Beste, to guided tours by industry stalwarts, it was an immersive experience.
Beyond the Gates has always been a mecca for fans worldwide to witness their favorite Norwegian artists perform in their home setting. The festival promises more surprises this year, ensuring an unparalleled experience.
