Teasing new tunes on Instagram, Shomo hinted at near year telling fans he will “see you in 2021”
The world has not received new Beartooth tunes since 2018’s Disease but it looks as though new material is on the horizon. Making good on his description of his latest work being some of the heaviest the band has made to date, frontman Caleb Shomo offered a teaser of what fans can expect.
Earlier this year, Shomo turned up on Mosh Talks to share the status of new music and how even early on, the direction of the tunes were especially heavy and among “his best” thus far.
In an interview with Blabbermouth, Shomo provided a clearer picture of what the bad had in store of the latest offering.
“If Disease was AC/DC, this record is Black Sabbath,” shared Shomo.
“It’s a lot more influenced in dark stoner rock, heavy power groove. Obviously, there’s still a lot of fast [stuff] and some punk rock and all that, but I’ve really been exploring with the stoner metal side of guitars and guitar tones and doing different tunings and lots of fuzz and chaos and layering the fuck out of my guitar tracks.”
In the post, Shomo gets a bit cryptic with his messaging but certainly points in the direction of 2021 for new music.
“Do you feel it, it’s rock bottom and you finally have a reason, it’s do or die. I’ll see you when you’re breathing (See you in 2021).”
Watch Shomo discuss the early progress of the record from his Mosh Talks appearance earlier this year.
