The latest cut directed by David Brodsky and Allison Woest of MyGoodEye brings to life the horrors of the band’s latest album, ‘Terrasite’.
Following the introduction of the band’s latest full length effort, Terrasite, with the annihilating first single, “We Eat Our Young” deathgrind practitioners Cattle Decapitation have launched a second assault with “Scourge of the Offspring”.
The nightmarish presentation comes packaged with a consuming visual helmed by David Brodsky and Allison Woest of MyGoodEye and frames the dismal reality of an apocalyptic landscape left for the next generation to inherit. Frontman Travis Ryan detailed the thematic scope of the single.
“’Scourge Of The Offspring’ makes up the bulk of the album’s concept that the first song, ‘Terrasitic Adaptation,’ and the cover art sort of set into motion. In the first song, we find out what’s going on on the cover, and this song deals more with what our children will end up being – adult humans, shat out and left to make sense of this world only to end up being part of the problem simply by existing.”
Building on the abysmal subext of the band’s 2019 Death Atlas, Ryan explains how the aesthetic of the well-received album ultimately segued into the next chapter of Cattle Decap’s depiction of devastation. Ryan elaborates, “I wanted to do the 180° opposite of Death Atlas. I already had the concept idea from years back and since Death Atlas was so dark and brooding, I wanted a completely opposite effect – I wanted this to take place in the daylight. I’ve always found daytime horror to be really unsettling so I wanted to make sure what was going on on the cover took place in the light of day, which also finds its place within the lyrics.”
Terrasite, features the horrific artwork of longtime collaborator Wes Benscoter (Vader, Kreator, Bloodbath, Hypocrisy). The project was was produced by Dave Otero (Cephalic Carnage, Allegaeon) and ropes in additional personnel like Tony Parker of Midnight Odyssey to add piano and synth.
Coupled with the release of Terrasite, Cattle Decapitation will embark on the 2023 Decibel Magazine Tour along with Dark Funeral. The run kicks off just prior to the album’s arrival on Thursday, May 11th in Santa Ana, California and extends through Saturday, June 10th in Los Angeles, California.
