The Grammy-nominated boundary pushers explain, “the only way to kick it off is the same way it was supposed to begin…
in the city of steel that made us strong.”

As more festival, tour, and show announcements trickle in, the excitement of post-pandemic life buzzes amongst music fans.

The latest act to drop long-awaited news is Pittsburgh’s hardcore quintet Code Orange. While a live stream had to replace their previously scheduled hometown date due to COVID-19, their cult following will be able to catch one of their dynamic performances once more on September 24 at the Roxian Theatre.

It was in the fateful month of March 2020 when Code Orange dropped their latest project  Underneath via Roadrunner. Despite being unable to play its 14 gripping tracks live, the group’s fourth studio album garnered attention both inside and outside of the metal community, earning five stars from The Guardian and even a Grammy nomination for “Best Metal Performance.”

Underneath’s major source of acclaim is its ability to transcend the expectations of a hardcore act, merging industrial experimentations with the unrelenting force that is emblematic of the genre’s spirit. By offering nuanced meditations on technology at a time when in-person interactions were off the table, the work also succeeded by offering substance and insight in a time of uncertainty.

Given the countless amount of hours that fans have spent consuming Underneath in quarantine, Code Orange’s return to the stage will spark nothing short of explosive energy. While previously planned support Every Time I Die is unable to make the show, there is good news: all previously purchased tickets will be honored, and there are even a few left to snag – HERE.
