Cradle of Filth to perform ‘Cruelty and the Beast’ on their Lustmord and Tourgasm tour

The North American trek will also include support from 3Teeth and Once Human.

Following the recent reveal of the band’s October 22nd full length in Existence Is Futile and the emphatic introduction in the lead single, “Crawling King Chaos,” extreme metal pillars Cradle of Filth have confirmed plans to return to North America with their Lustmord and Tourgasm tour.

The triumphant return of Dani Filth and his horde of conspirators serves as particularly significant as Cradle of Filth will be armed with the songs and spectacle of their classic 1998 concept album Cruelty and the Beast. For the first time ever, the band will be performing the album in full, punctuated by an encore of Filth essentials from the band’s vast catalog.

“It’s been far too long America, but soon we will return to haunt your shores again,” says vocalist Dani Filth. “We, as a band, are very much looking forward to coming back to the States and performing ‘Cruelty and the Beast’ in its entirety (plus some firm fan favourites), which was our earlier intention before the Pandemic reared its ugly head.”

The landmark album was released in 1998, and takes its inspirational cues from the legend of the Hungarian “blood countess” Elizabeth Báthory. Born into a prominent Hungarian family in 1560, Bathory went on to torture and kill an unknown number of women and girls – reportedly up to 650 – between 1590 and 1610. Despite evidence against her, Bathory was spared a death sentence by her family’s prominence and was sentenced to imprisonment at Čachtice Castle in Hungary (now Slovakia) until her death in 1614. Bathory is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the most prolific female killer in history.

Considering the gruesome source material, the album served as an undeniable North American introduction of Cradle of Filth just prior to the return of the century and ushered in a new era of extremity in metal music on a global level. The tour will revisit the impact and lasting influence of the breakout album, widely regarded as one of the band’s very best efforts to date.

Existence Is Futile from Cradle of Filth arrives October 22nd via Nuclear Blast Records. Pre-orders for the album are available – HERE. The complete list of dates for the Lustmord and Tourgasm tour can be found below.
