The groundbreaking robotic duo hit the self-destruct button after nearly three decades.

Sourcing an excerpt from their 2006 film Electroma, the duo of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, best known as the groundbreaking robots of Daft Punk, have apparently split.

The tandem released a poignant eight-minute short film entitled, ‘Epilogue’ that shows the team bidding a final farewell to one another before hitting the self-destruct button and making it official.

The Parisian pair helmed a historic 28-year career that included four seminal studio albums, two universally lauded live albums, the score for the film Tron: Legacy, and numerous collaboration efforts with some of music’s biggest names including Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, and The Weeknd.

Collecting Grammy trophies, Billboard Music Awards, a Brit Award, and countless nominations among the industry’s critical circles, Daft Punk’s legacy saw their success transcend divides – resonating with a multi-generational contingent of fans that didn’t need to be dance music enthusiasts to appreciate the spectacle.

Watch the Daft Punk say goodbye with ‘Epilogue’ below.
