The annual rock and metal destination at Donington eyes a strong return in 2022 with tickets going on-sale March 5th.

For the second consecutive year, the dance at Donington in the U.K.’s rock and metal destination of Download Festival has been forced to cancel their weekend spectacle. The 2021 installment was slated to feature the likes of Megadeth, Deftones, Gojira, System of A Down, Mastodon, Killswitch Engage, Korn, KISS, Volbeat, Rise Against, Obituary and many more spanning the scope of three gloriously entertaining days.

The statement, issued March 1st detailed that the festival organizers had tried their very best to make the 2021 edition a reality, but that continued restrictions amid the ongoing pandemic would make this year’s event impossible.

The prepared statement read, “We never gave up hope of bringing the festival back to Donington this June and had been working so hard behind the scenes to make that happen, but we now know it’s not possible. We’re heartbroken for everyone in the Download family, from artists to suppliers and of course our passionate Download fans.”

Despite the unfortunate news of the 2021 cancellation, organizers did offer a glimmer of optimism. The 2022 festival is moving forward and has solidified the event’s three headlining artists. June 10th, 2022 will be topped by KISS. June 11th, 2022 will be headlined by Iron Maiden, and the festival will close out on June 12th with a set from Simon Neil and Biffy Clyro.

Download Festival tickets go on-sale starting March 5th – complete information regarding the 2022 festival as well as refunds for the 2021 edition of the festival can be found- HERE
