The title track to the band’s lauded EP features Barker on drums and a visual nod to Blur’s video for “Song 2”

The socially-conscious, creatively diverse collective of Fever 333 have released a brand new visual for the title track to their universally-lauded 2020 EP.

The Djay Brawner-directed effort showcases the powerful percussive talents of Travis Barker on drums for a rousing visual that not only typifies the style and substance of the Jason Aalon Butler-led outfit, but also serves as an homage to British alt rock pillars, Blur.

Speaking with Revolver about the genesis of the production, Butler explained, “We were hoping to make a video that offered a similar energy and excitement to the live element of this FEVER 333 project. I also wanted to give a nod to ‘Song 2’, one of the coolest music videos ever made. Put these vibes together and we ended up with this.”

As for the visual translation of the vigor that anchors Fever 333, the video offers that and then some. Butler’s emphatic delivery showcases sincerity over schtick in what feels like a rallying cry more than it does a performance. Drawing a line in the sand, Butler barrels “You fucked with the wrong generation” with the kind of conviction that affirms this isn’t a song, it’s a statement. With the added authenticity of sample accents from Travis Barker’s “Carry It” collaboration with RZA, Raekwon, & Tom Morello, the track is a an undeniable banger.

Armed with the intention of affecting change and addressing societal disparities, Fever 333, from it’s inception was more a movement than another band. In fact, the timeline of the project was the direct result of protest and dissent. After protesting for 13 days straight following the murder of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police officers, Butler returned home on day 14 and put pen to paper for what would become Wrong Generation.

“This project is art as activism first. I’m talking about what’s happening and what needs to happen. I hope you understand there’s going to be pain in progress. After dismantling and deconstructing all of these things, we can find a beautiful place to be together.  For me, this whole EP is that 13 days, after 34 years. You fucked with the WRONG GENERATION.”
