The band’s third full length album is due out on Season of Mist this September.
Following the band’s blistering introduction of their third full length offensive with the lead single “Salve” black metal enigma Gaerea have delivered a second preview of their pending Season of Mist release, Mirage.
Enlisting director Guilherme Henriques to help create an ominous, effective aesthetic, Gaerea prove especially menacing on the second single, “Mantle”. The band’s pummeling cadence is on full display as the track seamlessly transitions from all out blitz to instrumental soar – showcasing the prowess and range of one of extreme music’s most exciting, emerging voices.
The band shared a nuanced explanation of the thematic weight at the core of the track, “A terrifying, fascinating and magnificent mystery of how, between all forms of random life, we were the chosen ones to suffer, to carry a burden we never truly recognize as our own to keep and die for. An ultimate poem of how life dances an endless ‘Valsa’ with death, unmasked, falling in love for their creations as the floor is made out of bone fragments.”
The campaign for the band’s latest album is coupled with a full touring itinerary for Gaerea. In addition to the band’s confirmed appearances at European summer festivals including Wacken Open Air and Brutal Assault next month, Gaerea will embark on their own European headlining run before trekking to Latin America for the first time ever, culminating with a brief tour of Mexico supporting black metal pillars, Watain.
