Ghost Break Two Year Lull With Single “Hunter’s Moon” From ‘Halloween Kills’ Soundtrack

Posted by Ramon Gonzales in News on September 30, 2021

An epic that captures the band’s psychedelic sound and blasphemous aesthetic, “Hunter’s Moon” is the ideal soundtrack for the horror institution.

Swedish legends Ghost are back just in time for spooky season! After two years with no new material, Tobias Forge and his unnamed ghouls have blessed us with “Hunter’s Moon” — a single that appears on the soundtrack for the latest installment in the Halloween franchise, Halloween Kills. An epic that captures Ghost’s psychedelic sound and blasphemous aesthetic, “Hunter’s Moon” practically begs to be played in a campy ’70s flick while the killer lurks around the corner.

Halloween Kills details Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis)’s attempt to halt Michael Myers’ path of destruction once and for all through a little vigilante justice. Officials from Blumhouse Productions (the horror film house also responsible for the terror of Insidious, Paranormal Activity, Get Out, and many more) got linked up with Ghost following a 2018 concert in Los Angeles.

This meeting of the sinister minds prompted Forge (aka Papa Emeritus IV) to be invited to set the following year. The magic behind the Halloween franchise’s longevity is naturally embedded in “Hunter Moon’s” final product, with the film’s iconic theme detectable in the track’s main riffs.

The follow-up to Ghost’s 2018 record Prequelle has been delayed due to COVID-19 and the album’s release date remains ambiguous. What is confirmed, however, is Ghost’s co-headlining arena with Danish rockers Volbeat. Forge and the gang will kick off their series of theatrical performances this coming January in Reno, Nevada and will continue their run into March.

Halloween Kills is out in theaters Oct. 15.
