Guns N’ Roses release studio version of “Absurd”

Posted by Ramon Gonzales in News on August 6, 2021

The band debuted the track earlier this week during their live return to Fenway Park in Boston.

Guns N’ Roses performed a historic performance earlier this week with a sold out stop in the historic confines of Boston’s Fenway Park. The comprehensive 22-track setlist included an essential list of the band’s hits and featured the debut of a new track in “Absurd”.

The single is a reworked version of the song “Silkworms,” from the Chinese Democracy sessions. The retooled iteration of the song boasts both the same intro and verse instrumental arrangement, with a new solo from Slash front and center. The song is the first new track from the band since the release of Chinese Democracy in 2008 and the first to feature Slash and reunited bassist Duff McKagan – who rejoined the crew back in 2016.

Since the band debuted the track back on their August 3rd performance at Fenway, the band has since included it again in their setlist during their August 5th play at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Guns N’ Roses are currently on tour with Wolfgang Van Halen’s band, Mammoth WVH. The complete list of dates can be seen below the visualizer for “Absurd”.
