Watching one of GWAR’s infamous live performances from behind your computer screen is the most fun you can have without being splattered with mystery fluids. For those who were lucky enough to catch the exclusive streaming event Scumdogs XXX Live during quarantine, you are surely jonesing to relive the dynamics of Slymenstra Hymen, Sleazy P. Martini, Sexecutioner, and Techno Destructo. And for those who missed the legendary Richmond rockers commanding the city’s premier crack house, regret surely abounds. Well, today is your lucky day: Scumdogs XXX Live will be released on CD, vinyl, cassette, DVD, and BluRay.

“This thing was a three-ring gangbang circus from the drop,” shares vocalist The Berserker Blóthar. “I just wanted to hang around with our old friends and get blasted, but of course, we had to face all of our Scumdogs era villains; Techno Destucto, the Redneck From Hell, and the Bad Biker Bitch to name a few. All was well until Slymenstra lit me on fire during her torch dance. With friends like that, who needs enemies?”

Since 1984, GWAR has made entertainment value a top priority. By perfecting the art of experiential madness, the cast of characters has managed to become bigger than shock rock itself. COVID-19 presented a unique challenge to all artists, yet GWAR was not willing to leave their fans at the disposal of wholesome activities like baking bread and watching Netflix. While the band’s Virginia-based festival Gwar-B-Q could obviously not proceed during pandemic times, their branded bar (aptly named Gwar-Bar) unveiled a new outdoor beer garden for Richmondites to enjoy.

As for the Scumdogs XXX Live set list, GWAR indulged fans with classics like “Sexecutioner” and “Love Surgery” from their 1990 record Scumdogs of the Universe (in case you missed it, a special remixed anniversary edition dropped last year). Bonus content on the DVD and BluRay include an amp check with guitarist Pustulus and behind the scenes footage with Mr. Martini. Bundles will also include products from Espresso Destructo Coffee and Liquid Death to keep you going wherever you’re moshing from.

Fortunately, as vaccination efforts improve the conditions of the U.S., GWAR will be packing venues (or crack houses) again soon. The gang will be doing extensive touring with the likes of Eyehategod, Madball, and Napalm Death in the coming months. The festivities will kick off with a hometown show on September 16: https://gwar.net/pages/tour.
