The American metal titans offer a commanding preview of their ninth full length album due out October 7th.
Following the introduction of their latest campaign last month with the impactful release of “Nevermore“, Lamb of God have reiterated the dominance with the delivery of Omens‘ title track – and it’s a absolute banger.
The single lands as the band prepares to embark on a run of European festival dates next month that include an appearance at Knotfest FInland as well as a headlining performance at Catton Park for the UK’s lauded Bloodstock Festival.
Speaking to the context of the track’s hostility, frontman D. Randall Blythe explains, “I think a lot of the messes human beings find ourselves in could be very easily prevented simply by paying attention to obvious repeating patterns, both in our personal lives and in a broader socio-historical context. What some call ‘omens’ are really just manifestations of the fact that there is nothing new under the sun. It’s foolish to ignore this, but we all do it.”
Due out October 7th, the release of the title track makes good on the band’s initial assessment of album number nine being one of their angriest. Reenlisting longtime collaborator Josh Wilbur to produce the project, the album reasserts Lamb of God’s enduring dominance as pillars of American metal while and champions of common sense. Blythe spoke to that sentiment in summing up the effort,”The world is crazy and keeps changing. Omens is a reaction to the state of the world. It’s a very pissed-off record. It is extremely pissed-off.”
In support of the album, Lamb of God has an extensive touring itinerary set for the remainder of the year. Following a month long run of European festival plays, Lamb of God will helm the Omens tour with support from Baroness, Motionless In White, Spiritbox, plus Animals As Leaders as well as Suicide Silence and Fit For An Autopsy. Interspersed between Omens headlining dates, Lamb of God will also make appearances at important domestic rock festivals with confirmed appearances at Louder Than Life and Aftershock.
To close out the year, Lamb of God will again trek to Europe and the UK for the State of Unrest Tour with Kreator, Thy Art Is Murder and Gatecreeper completing the crushing line-up. Among the final dates of the trek include highly-anticipated plays in the UK before punctuating the year with a finale in Paris and Dübendorf, Switzerland.
