Listen to Arch Enemy’s first new music in four years

Posted by Ramon Gonzales in News on October 22, 2021

The Swedish metal powerhouse showcases strength and speed on the standalone single, “Deceiver, Deceiver”.

In what feels like ages ago, the last time the world experienced new music from Arch Enemy was with their 2017 LP, Will to Power. The band’s tenth studio release was well-received and saw the band tour relentlessly in support.

Closing out the album cycle, what was likely a brief period to rest and reset then crossed with the last two years of chaos of a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic, ultimately pushing back anything new from Arch Enemy until the world some sense of normalcy.

The unique set of circumstances resulted in a four year stretch since fans last heard new material from Arch Enemy. Now, the band have returned with a commanding new standalone single that showcases the band’s signature of strength and speed in, “Deceiver, Deceiver”.

Arch Enemy guitarist and songwriter Michael Amott shared his surprise that it has been so long since the band’s lastn release. “Has it really been four years since we last released new Arch Enemy music? Time flies… especially when you tour the world for a couple of years, decide to take some time off… and then we all get hit with a global fckn pandemic!”

Acknowledging the arduous stretch of recent history, Amott continues, “Everyone’s been through hard times these last couple of years, and it’s beautiful to see everything coming back now. This very much feels like the right moment to return with a brand new song, Deceiver, Deceiver! Not the happiest of tunes, but believe me: we’re ecstatic to be back!”

Arch Enemy is confirmed to join Behemoth for their joint European/UK Siege tour in 2022. Both Carcass and Unto Others round out the stacked bill. Tour dates can be found below.
