Malevolence strike with ‘Malicious Intent’

Posted by Ramon Gonzales in News on February 23, 2022

The Sheffield crew flex major muscle with the furious first single, “On Broken Glass”.

Among the UK’s most promising and powerful ascending artists, Malevolence have announced their third full length studio campaign with the introduction of Malicious Intent.

The highly-anticipated release is set for a May 20th arrival date via Nuclear Blast and will add to the band’s dominant run as one of Sheffield’s most celebrated outfits. In 2021, the band asserted their versatility, inciting pandemonium with memorable performances at major festivals including Download, Slam Dunk and Bloodstock.

An authentic embrace of hardcore ethos and metal proficiency have catapulted Malevolence among a top tier of artist that blurs genres and champions the agenda of heavy culture without limitation. The band’s latest self-produced effort is also bolstered by guest assists from Matt Honeycutt of Kublai Khan TX and venerated shredder Matt Heafy of Trivium.

Emphatically introducing the band’s third full length, “On Broken Glass” delivers the kind of first round knockout that leaves no doubt of the band’s dominance.

Frontman Alex Taylor weighs in on the start of the band’s next chapter. “Malicious Intent is a demonstration of strength. It is the next step in the evolution of our band and is the product of hard work and creativity over two years of difficulties, lock downs and complete upheaval to every day life.”

Taylor continues, “The album embodies the progression of our sound but also our growth as individuals and I feel like with each release we put out, our sound matures with us. The subjects that we touch on with this album will resonate with those who are seeking self reflection and progression. This is something we as a band will always strive for as we continue to carve our own path and build new foundations in the heavy music world. If you are a heavy music fan, there is something on this album for you. These are heavy metal anthems that will stand the test of time!”

Coupled with the news of Malicious Intent and the release of the single, arrives an accompanying video that showcases the live fury of Malevolence. Executing the visual with the same DIY work ethic that have made Malevolence such a highly-touted outfit, the video for “On Broken Glass” reiterates the band’s connection with fans and their unwavering hustle.

Taylor explains, “The video was filmed on location in Malevolence’s home town Sheffield. Directed by long time friend Daniel Prieß, the concept of the video was simple; to capture the raw energy of Malevolence in a live environment. Everything behind the video was done completely DIY by the band, from hiring the venue, stage and crew to inviting close friends and family down to the shoot. The video encapsulates the loyalty and passion that Malevolence’s fans have for the band”.
