Australian aggressors Northlane have shared a third selection from their upcoming sixth full length studio release Obsidian due out later next month. Following the effective launch of singles “Echo Chamber” and “Plenty” the most recent offering in “Carbonized” highlights a confrontational message of accountability that aims to take abusers, predators and manipulators to task for their offenses.

The band’s frontman Marcus Bridge, without mincing his words, makes very clear what drives the conviction of the track, “We need to start holding predators and abusers accountable for the awful things they have done,” Bridge says.

“Time and time again, the phrase ‘separate the artist from the art’ is used to discount and deflect the damage these people — often men in a position of power — have inflicted on those around them. Whether it’s manipulating minors or putting a hit out on your wife, it shocks me that fans will forget all about it because their latest track is really heavy. Stand with the victims, not the artists continuing their careers as if nothing ever happened. This song is a reminder.”

The emphatic fourth single previews Northlane’s highly-anticipated follow-up to their lauded 2019 showing, Alien. On Obsidian, Northlane takes matters in to their own hands with an entirely self-recorded, self-produced effort along with collaborator Chris Blancato that asserts the band has found their creative stride. Stylistically, Northlane’s heft ropes in elements of electronic low-end, synth accents, and soaring choruses to craft a skilled meld of songwriting that positions the band at the forefront of the genre.

The arrival of Obsidian on April 22nd also doubles down on the band’s continued championing of independence, operating and thriving as a fully self-sustained unit. In addition to the launch of their own album on their own imprint, Northlane established their WORLDEATERS Patreon. The response from the fans proved undeniable with the top tier of fan-based community selling out within 24 hours of posting.
