Making their return to the full length recorded format for the first time in five years, Richmond ragers Municipal Waste has announced their seventh installment of party thrash with the July 1st arrival of Electrified Brain.

Enlisting one of heavy music’s most in-demand producers in Arthur Rizk, the Waste has begun the follow up campaign to their celebrated 2017 release, Slime and Punishment with the introduction of yet another modern thrash banger. “Grave Dive” ushers in the 2022 edition of the band’s continued catalog of heft, speed, and debauchery. Complete with driven guitars, pummeling percussion and plenty of gang vocals to rally the pit, the track is signature Waste.

The band’s frontman in Tony Foresta stacked the track up against some of Municipal Waste’s time-tested anthems. “It’s in the vein of songs like ‘Headbanger Face Rip’ and ‘Wave of Death’,” Foresta explains. “It’s an inspirational song for our fans to cause bodily harm to themselves, but in a loud and healthy way, of course.

Setting the punishing pace of the album overall, Foresta further explains how “Grave Dive” is indicative of the next chapter of the Waste while remaining true to the band’s core DNA. “We’re not writing any love ballads to sell records,” jokes Foresta. “We’re just doing what we’ve always done since the band started—and that’s try to write loud, fast, and ripping hardcorepunkmetal. We hope you walk away with some bloody ears, blown speakers, pissed off parents, black eyes, and a healthy distrust of authority.”

The news of the band’s summer release adds to an already booming 2022. Fresh off their triumphant run opposite of Obituary on the Decibel Magazine Tour to kick off the year, Municipal Waste will again hit the road in the spring for a domestic run with Pig Destroyer and Dwarves before heading overseas for an extensive fall run supporting generational mainstays Anthrax throughout Europe.
