We came with this idea still influenced by the concept of our last album ‘Quadra’, using geometry, numerology and numbers.
As bands pivot to find ways to stay connected with fans, the content has become increasingly creative. Metal institution Sepultura released their fifteenth studio LP earlier this year in Quadra. As the plot line has become so familiar, the band’s touring plans we’re sidelined, however, the band wanted to find a way to maintain a conversation with the fans.
Sepultura would ultimately create a streaming series that allowed them to not only remain in touch with fans during the pandemic, but also allowed the band to connect with peers and contemporaries. Sepulquarta launches weekly from the band’s website and features frank conversations with important contributors to the world of metal music. Andreas Kisser spoke about the creation of the project, “SepulQuarta was born out of the necessity to express ourselves in a different way since we’re all facing a new situation. We came with this idea still influenced by the concept of our last album ‘Quadra’, using geometry, numerology and numbers. Wednesday, which is the fourth day of the week, was chosen for an event.“
This week’s offering features a discussion with Sepultura’s drummer Eloy Casagrande and the legendary Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater and Avenged Sevenfold. The Q & A will broadcast Wednesday June 3rd at 4PM Brazilian official time (Noon PST and 9PM CET) and can be viewed here.
SEPULTURA’s QUADRA is available now from Nuclear Blast Records.
