Slipknot’s Alessandro Venturella Talks Mask Designs, Dehydrating Onstage, and His Love of Pink Floyd On The Downbeat Podcast

Stray from the Path drummer Craig Reynolds is at the helm of The Downbeat Podcast. In his current episode, the veteran musician leads an extensive conversation with Slipknot’s Alessandro Venturella. Throughout the course of the nearly two-hour discussion, the like-minded artists discuss Venturella’s transition from teching for bands like Coheed and Cambria, Gallows, and Mastodon, to performing with one of the biggest metal bands in the world.

Venturella recalled the time that Jim Root spontaneously gifted him a guitar; well before Alessandro had joined Slipknot. Among some of the other fantastic stories include Venurella’s tenure working for black metal giants, Watain, and the occasional spewing of human blood from fans. He also recounts a long night/early morning of drinking with Brent Hinds of Mastodon that led to some brotherly fisticuffs.

The interview closes out with Reynolds pressing Venturella to offer some of his favorite records – of which the guys shared their love for Pink Floyd and classic works of Metallica.
