The Swedish veterans made the personnel acquisition as the band is currently working on the follow-up to Verkligheten.
Progressive death powerhouse Soilwork have revealed that virtuoso bassist Rasmus Ehrnborn has now been named an official member of the band. Ehrnborn has been working with the band since 2019, helming the bass for Soilwork following the release of their 2019 LP, Verkligheten.
In an official statement from Soilwork the band shared, “We are pleased to finally welcome Rasmus Ehrnborn to the Soilwork family and announce him as our official bass player and full time member of the band. Rasmus has been onstage with us ever since the 2019 Verkligheten campaign and recorded our EP A Whisp Of The Atlantic as well as our upcoming album that is due this year. Rasmus is a world class musician and has truly become an important member of the band, and we look forward to seeing what the future holds for this new constellation”.
Ehrnborn also shared his outlook with regards to being a full-fledged member of the band. “For me, joining SOILWORK as a full time member is a bit of a dream come true as I’ve been a big fan of the band for many years. Their musicianship and songwriting is out of this world, and after touring and recording with the guys these past few years I’ve come to consider them all dear friends. I’m humbled and proud to be a part of the next chapter of SOILWORK”.
Ehrnborn first stamped his signature on the band’s recorded catalog in late 2020, when Soilwork release their A Whisp of the Atlantic EP. The immersive five-track effort showcased the band’s next-level musicianship with a kind of narrative that transported the listener. These songs were epic – in fact, the release’s title track is some sixteen minutes long – arguably the most imaginative the band has ever been. It’s that kind of top-tier creative output that has been coupled with the Ehrnborn-era.
Soilwork is currently working on their twelfth full length studio album. The release is set to arrive sometime in 2022 and will serve as the follow up to 2019’s critically-acclaimed, Verkligheten.
