Featuring previous cuts in “Watchtower” and “Sacrifice”, the band’s third preview in “Salt” officially kicks off the march towards the September release.
Following the groundswell of momentum with the release of the band’s heralded second installment in their Zombie EP last year, The Devil Wears Prada has been on a tear in the form of new music and consistent touring.
2021’s ZII EP, revisited one of the band’s most important releases, bringing to a close what began in 2010 with TDWP’s cherished Zombie EP. Capturing that creative lightning in a bottle that began with those sessions, the band assigned their own Jonathan Gering to steer the ship as producer and ultimately help craft what would become the band’s eighth full length effort, Color Decay.
In the months since, The Devil Wears Prada have maintained a slow trickle, revealing their latest iteration with the unveiling of mammoth singles like “Watchtower” and “Sacrifice“. Now, the band have ushered in their new chapter officially with the arrival of the third preview of Color Decay in the anthemic single, “Salt”.
“‘Salt’ is a song about trying to move forward and then feeling like nothing ever changes, even when you’ve seemingly done everything right,” TDWP explains. “It’s the sort of feeling that makes you question every move you’ve ever made. Initially, the lyrics were just about having trouble writing songs for our new record, but soon, we realized that this feeling of fighting only to be stagnant and held down applies to so much more in our lives. It was really a breakthrough track and allowed us to dive in even deeper into what became Color Decay.”
The announcement of Color Decay is packaged with the band’s headlining summer tour that will see genre stalwarts team with Stray From the Path and emerging hardcore unit Dying Wish for a massive trek that culminates with a highly-billed performance at Blue Ridge Rock Festival in Danville, VA on September 11th.
On the run, The Devil Wears Prada will perform the Zombie EP and the ZII EP in full, along with a collection of TWDP essentials spanning their catalog, likely including the live reveal of new tracks from their forthcoming album. A full list of dates can be found below.
Color Decay from The Devil Wears Prada arrives September 16th via Solid State Records. Pre-order the album – HERE. Watch the electric visual for the single ‘Salt” below.
