The fallout stemming from allegations of abuse continues for Marilyn Manson

Posted by Ramon Gonzales in News on February 2, 2021

Manson has now been dropped by his record label, booking agent, and has been edited out of upcoming episodes of Shudder’s ‘Creepshow’ and STARZ ‘American Gods’

Yesterday morning actress Evan Rachel Wood published allegations of abuse – mental, physical, and sexual at the hands of former boyfriend Brian Warner, better known as Marilyn Manson.

In the hours since the revelation, the collateral damage for Manson has been both swift and colossal. In an article published by Vanity Fair, Wood’s story was corroborated by at least four additional victims, Sarah McNeilly, Ashley Lindsay Morgan, Ashley Walters and a woman named Gabriella that have all made similar claims of violent encounters with Manson.

In recent years, Wood has become a vocal advocate on behalf of victims of abuse, testifying before House Judiciary subcommittee in 2018 about her experiences while opting to not disclose the name of the person who abused her. In 2019, Wood testified in front of the California Senate Public Safety Committee in support of the Phoenix Act, which extends the statute of limitations for survivors of domestic violence.

Wood’s campaign in support of survivors of abuse has always prompted suspicion, though the Westworld actress chose to not reveal the details entirely. Her public statement and accusation against Manson has not only rallied the support of additional victims, but Manson’s former fiancee Rose McGowan has also spoken in support of Wood, though she asserts that she did not have the same experience.

As for the fallout stemming from the allegations, Manson’s record label Loma Vista Recordings issued a public statement just hours after the allegations went public, severing professional ties with Manson. The label’s decision was “effective immediately” and further reiterated, “Due to these concerning developments, we have also decided not to work with Marilyn Manson on any future projects.”

Variety issued a report that details the how the artist is now being distanced. Manson’s longtime booking agent CAA has officially dropped him from the roster. A spokesperson from AMC Networks has also confirmed that Manson’s episode of the Shudder horror anthology ‘Creepshow’ was no longer happening. Also, Manson’s appearance on the STARZ series ‘American Gods’ was being edited to exclude the Manson from the episode.

Manson has responded to the allegations referring to his intimate relationships as “consensual” among “like-minded partners” while maintaining that the allegations “misrepresent the past”.
