The Smashing Pumpkins celebrate 25 years of ‘Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness’ with live Q & A with Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlin moderated by Daniel P Carter

The band has also confirmed a 33-song sequel to ‘Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness’ as well as ‘Machina’ while revealing plans of a 25th anniversary arena world tour that is now being planned for 2021.

The Smashing Pumpkins have announced plans to commemorate the 25th anniversary of their seminal masterwork Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness with a rare live Q & A with Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlin on October 23rd.

The event will be moderated by BBC Radio’s Daniel P Carter and will give fans the ability to connect with the band, discuss the legacy of the record, and even share their memories of the album. Fans can actually submit those entries – HERE

Also announced in the collection of talking points surround the anniversary was the confirmation of a sequel concept album to Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness’ and ‘MACHINA‘ is currently being written/recorded and slated for a late 2021 release. This musical themed concept album is the 3rd album in the trilogy.

Giving fans even more reason to feel optimistic, the band also confirmed a Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness  world arena tour. The official tour announcement was originally scheduled for the anniversary date on October 23, but has been postponed until 2021 due to COVID-19 restrictions. Fans can expected dates and details soon.

In addition to all of the anniversary festivities, The Smashing Pumpkins are currently in the thick of promotion for their forthcoming eleventh studio album, CYR. Thus far, the band has revealed offerings from the 20-track opus including “Cyr,” “The Colour of Love,” “Confessions of a Dopamine Addict,” “Wrath,” “Anno Satana,” and “Birch Grove.”

A portion of the reveal has been packaged with the release of the band’s animated series, In Ashes. The Deep Sky-animated series was created and penned by Billy Corgan, of which 3 of the 5 episodes are now currently available to stream via the band’s Youtube channel – HERE
