The track kicks off the release of the band’s second EP of 2020 in Vol. 2
Shavo Odadijan of System Of A Down continues to press on with the progress of his newest project, North Kingsley.
The trifecta of Odadijan, along with producer Saro Paparian and lyricist Ray Hawthorne comprise an outfit with a heavy hip hop lean that combines dynamic production with instrumental wherewithal to push the boundaries of the genre.
The band’s latest effort reunites Odadijan with hip hop royalty in The Rza of The Wu-Tang Clan for the potently political, “False Idols”. The shared verbal gymnastics of Hawthorne and Rza result in a track that balances style and substance in addressing the current climate of political division.
“We, as individuals, empower and idolize people who care for their own interests above ours,” Ray Hawthorne shared. “We need to recognize that. We need to look at things from all angles, and decide on our own what we agree and disagree with. We can’t continue to fall in line with the false idols that we bring upon ourselves. They’re coming from more places than you may think.”
The track functions as the first showing of the band’s second EP, Vol. 2. North Kingsley made an emphatic debut in August with the release of their first EP, Vol. 1.
