The trio of Zakk Wylde, Blasko, and Joey Castillo recreate the namesake track to celebrate the 50th anniversary
To mark the 50th anniversary of the debut of Black Sabbath, the crew of Zakk Wylde, Blasko, and Joey Castillo have emerged from the studio with a note-for-note tribute LP entitled, Vertigo. The name of the LP is a reference to the label that first released the band’s work.
While the band has been touring in between the members’ other gigs for the last few years, the recent studio effort was a very deliberate homage to their forefathers’ milestone. Recorded meticulously to ensure authenticity and accuracy, the band even recorded the tracks live in-studio, the same way Iommi, Ward, Geezer, and Ozzy did half a century ago.
The first release from the album is the namesake track, “Black Sabbath.” Simply put, the selection is flawless. Superlative just won’t do the song justice both because of how it has aged and how it was thoroughly recreated.
