Bandcamp Roulette: Neon Soaked Heavy Metal From Invaders

Posted by Corinne Westbrook in Bandcamp Roulette on September 9, 2022

Embracing the spectacle of 80’s heft, the Spanish unit executes big riffs and catchy tracks without indulging the parody of the era.

Get ready for a rousingly good time from Madrid-based heavy metal outfit Invaders. Drawing from the less poppy era of hair metal (before it became all glitter and glam) and traditional heavy metal, Invaders capture the early 80’s quite effectively. Infectious and catchy, Beware the Night is quite the engaging album, with plenty of sing along and fist pumping moments throughout.

Opening with decidedly Latin guitar work, before the jump into classic heavy metal, opening track “Livin’ In The End” sets the stage for the album. Intricate guitar work and a chantable chorus suck you into the neon and smoke of classic heavy metal.

“Spin The Roulette” and “Redhead Lady” being back to back make this particular writer happy for personal reasons, but I digress. The clear vocals glide over guitar-driven melodies and are punctuated by some eccentric but not overly technical guitar work. “Crimson Fate” has a sense of melancholy to it, often abandoned by the later era glitzy heavy metal, but recaptured here. “Standing in Twilight” has some more grit, while album closer “Ghost Religion” is soulful and sorrowful.

Beware the Night is smooth and catchy, yet still heavy enough to get your head banging. This is the kind of good, old school metal that has enough power to get your air guitar tuned up. All-in-all, this is an impressive and fun debut from the Spanish metallers. You can get your copy HERE
