Dino Cazares Breaks Down 25 Years of Demanufacture and the Legacy of Fear Factory

Posted by Ramon Gonzales in Mosh Talks on June 22, 2020

Mosh Talks digs deep into the importance of the extreme industrial metal masterpiece.

The Mosh Talks series welcomed influential guitarist Dino Cazares for a detailed discussion revolving around the band’s monumental release, Demanufacture. Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the record, Cazares revisited the timeline and the formative events that ultimately led to the modern metal masterwork. Citing some of the band’s earliest European experiences and the prevalence of EDM culture overseas, Cazares explained how the band drew inspiration from that end of the spectrum and how it complimented their existing love for bands like Ministry and Nine Inch Nails.

The two also discussed how sci-fi institutions like the Terminator series and Doom served as a source of inspiration for the band and seemingly mirrored a dystopian reality that was actually happening in the early 90s in the band’s native Southern California. Riots, fires, and earthquakes all rattled reality during that time and when discussed in the context of a record like Demanufacture, it becomes very clear how the record captured such a pivotal moment in time.
