Vikings: Valhalla returns to Netflix, Chucky arrives on Shudder and more on streaming this week

‘Vikings: Valhalla (Season 2)’ (Netflix)

Vikings: Valhalla chronicles the heroic adventures of some of the most famous Vikings who ever lived — the legendary explorer Leif Eriksson (Sam Corlett), his fiery and headstrong sister Freydis Eriksdotter (Frida Gustavsson), and the ambitious Nordic prince Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter). Hunted and on the run, our legendary Vikings heroes are forced to test their ambitions and courage in worlds beyond the fjords of Scandinavia.

‘Koala Man’ (Hulu)

Koala Man follows middle-aged dad Kevin (Michael Cusack) and his titular secret identity, whose only superpower is a burning passion for following rules and snuffing out petty crime. Koala Man is on a quest to clean up the town of Dapto, often roping his frustrated family into his increasingly bizarre adventures.

‘Hunters (Season 2)’ (Prime Video)

Nazi hunters discover hundreds of high-ranking Nazi officials in 1977 New York City, conspiring to create a Fourth Reich in the U.S.; the Hunters set out to bring the Nazis to justice and thwart their new genocidal plans. The second and final season is now streaming.

‘Velma’ (HBO Max)

This adult animated comedy series telling the origin story of Velma Dinkley (Mindy Kaling), the unsung and under-appreciated brains of the Scooby-Doo Mystery Inc. gang. This original and humorous spin unmasks the complex and colorful past of one of America’s most beloved mystery solvers.

‘Servant (Season 4)’ (Apple TV+)

From M. Night Shyamalan, Servant follows a Philadelphia couple in mourning after an unspeakable tragedy creates a rift in their marriage and opens the door for a mysterious force to enter their home. The reckoning arrives in this fourth and final season.

‘The Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker’ (Netflix)

‘Chucky (Season 1)’ (Shudder)

After a vintage Chucky (Brad Dourif) doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begins to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies and allies from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.

‘The Drop’ (Hulu)

Lex (Anna Konkle) and Mani (Jermaine Fowler) are a happily married young couple, running their dream artisanal bakery in Los Angeles and excited about starting a family together. A trip to a tropical island resort for a friend’s destination wedding, coinciding with Lex’s ovulation cycle, feels like the perfect opportunity to conceive. But good vibes and high hopes are cut short when, shortly after their arrival to paradise, Lex accidentally drops her friend’s (Aparna Nancherla) baby in front of all their friends. Paradise becomes purgatory for our couple as recriminations, passive-aggression and old wounds begin to permeate the island reunion and throw Mani and Lex’s future into deep uncertainty.

‘House of Darkness’ (Hulu)

Hap (Justin Long) offers Mina (Kate Bosworth) a ride home with ulterior motives, but his night takes a turn when he learns she lives in a creepy American castle…and the shadowy figures in the corridors make it clear that he isn’t welcome.

‘Dawn Breaks Behind the Eyes’ (Shudder)

When Margot (Luisa Taraz) and her husband Dieter (Frederik von Lüttichau) decide to spend the night in the run-down castle she has inherited from her wealthy family, their relationship and their sanity are put to the test. As time and space begin to shift around them, a reality that only exists within the walls of the eerie building is exposed.

‘Tulsa King’ (Paramount+)

Tulsa King follows New York mafia capo Dwight “The General” Manfredi (Sylvester Stallone), just after he is released from prison after 25 years and unceremoniously exiled by his boss to set up shop in Tulsa, Okla. Realizing that his mob family may not have his best interests in mind, Dwight slowly builds a “crew” from a group of unlikely characters, to help him establish a new criminal empire in a place that to him might as well be another planet. ‘Echo 3’ (Apple TV+)

From the writer of The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty, Echo 3 is an action-packed thriller set in South America that follows Amber Chesborough (Jessica Ann Collins), a brilliant young scientist who is the emotional heart of a small American family. When Amber goes missing along the Colombia-Venezuela border, her brother, Bambi (Luke Evans), and her husband, Prince (Michiel Huisman) – two men with deep military experience and complicated pasts – struggle to find her in a layered personal drama, set against the explosive backdrop of a secret war. ‘Willow’ (Disney+)

20 years after vanquishing the wicked queen Bavmorda, the sorcerer Willow Ufgood (Warwick Davis) leads a group of misfits on a dangerous rescue mission into the unknown. This new series from Lucasfilm and Disney is a sequel to the 1988 film of the same name. All episodes are now streaming.

‘National Treasure: Edge of Mystery’ (Disney+)

Jess (Lisette Olivera), a brilliant and resourceful dreamer, searches for answers about her family; she embarks on the adventure of a lifetime to uncover the truth about the past and save a lost Pan-American treasure. The first six episodes are now streaming.

‘Star Wars: The Bad Batch (Season 2)’ (Disney+)

When the new season opens, months have passed since the events on Kamino, and the Bad Batch continue their journey navigating the Empire after the fall of the Republic.
