The Woman King charges onto Netflix, Star Trek: Picard returns for a final season and much more this week

NOW STREAMING:

‘The Woman King’ (Netflix)

This underrated action epic from last year is now finally streaming and can hopefully get some more eyes on it. Inspired by true events, this is the remarkable, action-packed story about the all-female unit of warriors who protected the African Kingdom of Dahomey with skills and a fierceness unlike anything the world has ever seen. Follow the epic and intense journey of General Nanisca (Viola Davis) as she trains the next generation of recruits and readies them for battle against an enemy determined to destroy their way of life.

‘Star Trek: Picard (Season 3)’ (Paramount+)

The stakes have never been higher as Star Trek: Picard boldly goes into its third and final season. Jonathan Frakes, Brent Spiner, LeVar Burton, Gates McFadden, Marina Sirtis, and Michael Dorn of Star Trek: The Next Generation join series star Patrick Stewart for an epic adventure.

‘Carnival Row (Season 2)’ (Prime Video)

A growing population of mythological immigrant creatures struggles to coexist with humans after the creatures’ exotic homelands are invaded by the empires of man. The creatures are forbidden to live, love or fly with freedom, but hope lives in darkness. Human detective Rycroft “Philo” Philostrate (Orlando Bloom) and a refugee faerie, Vignette Stonemoss (Cara Delevigne), rekindle a dangerous affair despite being in an increasingly intolerant society. Vignette has a secret that endangers Philo’s world during his most important case yet — a string of gruesome murders threatening the uneasy peace of the Row.

‘Sharper’ (Apple TV+)

No one is who they seem in Sharper, a neo-noir thriller of secrets and lies, set amongst New York City’s bedrooms, barrooms and boardrooms. Characters compete for riches and power in a high stakes game of ambition, greed, lust and jealousy that will keep audiences guessing until the final moment.

‘Animaniacs (Season 3)’ (Hulu)

The Emmy award-winning series returns for another season of hijinx! Yakko, Wakko and Dot are back with fresh pranks and catchy songs about world-ending catastrophes! Joining them are Pinky and the Brain, who bend reality in the name of world domination.

‘Hello Tomorrow!’ (Apple TV+)

In a retro-futuristic world, charismatic salesman Jack Billings (Billy Crudup) leads a team of fellow sales associates determined to revitalize their customers’ lives by hawking timeshares on the moon.

‘Halloween Ends’ (Prime Video)

Four years after the events of last year’s Halloween Kills, Laurie (Jamie Lee Curtis) is living with her granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) and is finishing writing her memoir. Michael Myers hasn’t been seen since. Laurie, after allowing the specter of Michael to determine and drive her reality for decades, has decided to liberate herself from fear and rage and embrace life. But when a young man, Corey Cunningham (Rohan Campbell), is accused of killing a boy he was babysitting, it ignites a cascade of violence and terror that will force Laurie to finally confront the evil she can’t control, once and for all.

‘Marvel’s Moon Girl & Devil Dinosaur’ (Disney+)

Based on Marvel’s hit comic books, this animated series follows the adventures of 13-year-old super-genius Lunella Lafayette (Diamond White) and her 10-ton T-Rex, Devil Dinosaur. After Lunella accidentally brings Devil Dinosaur into present-day New York City, the duo works together to protect the city’s Lower East Side from danger.

‘Animal Control’ (Hulu)

A group of local animal control workers’ lives are complicated by the fact that animals are simple, but humans are not. Leading the crew is Frank (Joel McHale), an opinionated, eccentric animal control officer who may not have gone to college but is still the most well-read person in the room. In his past life as a cop, Frank tried to expose corruption in his department, but his efforts got him fired, leaving him cynical and curmudgeonly. Despite his rough exterior, he is blessed with an almost superhuman ability to understand animals.
