The Boys returns for anther wild season, a new South Park movie hits Paramount+ and more this week

‘The Boys (Season 3)’ (Amazon Prime Video)
It’s been a year of calm. Homelander’s (Antony Starr) subdued. Butcher (Karl Urban) works for the government, supervised by Hughie (Jack Quaid) of all people. But both men itch to turn this peace and quiet into blood and bone. So when The Boys learn of a mysterious anti-Supe weapon, it sends them crashing into The Seven, starting a war, and chasing the legend of the first Superhero: Soldier Boy.
‘South Park: The Streaming Wars’ (Paramount+)
Cartman locks horns with his mom in a battle of wills while an epic conflict unfolds that threatens South Park’s very existence. This is the third film that the legendary animated series has produced for Paramount+ after striking a massive deal with the streaming service last year.
‘Interceptor’ (Netflix)
Meet the world’s last defense. One Army captain (Elsa Pataky) must use her years of tactical training and military expertise when a simultaneous coordinated attack threatens the remote missile interceptor station she is in command of.
‘The Orville: New Horizons’ (Hulu)
Seth McFarlane’s sci-fi series finally returns with a move to Hulu just in time for its third season. Set 400 years in the future, New Horizons finds the crew of the U.S.S. Orville continuing their mission of exploration, as they navigate both the mysteries of the universe and the complexities of their own interpersonal relationships.
‘Assassination Nation’ (HBO Max)
High school senior Lily (Odessa Young) and her three best friends live in a haze of texts, posts, selfies and chats ust like the rest of the world. Their small town gets turned upside down when an anonymous hacker starts to reveal personal messages and secrets of thousands of people. As anger erupts into full-blown violence, the four girls soon find themselves in a fight for their lives against an armed mob.
‘What Keeps You Alive’ (Shudder)
Jackie (Hannah Emily Anderson) and Jules (Brittany Allen) are a couple celebrating their one-year anniversary at a secluded cabin in the woods belonging to Jackie’s family. From the moment they arrive, something changes in Jules’ normally loving wife, as Jackie begins to reveal a previously unknown dark side.
‘Disappearance at Clifton Hill’ (Netflix)
Following the death of her mother, Abby (Tuppence Middleton), a troubled young woman with a checkered past, returns to her hometown of Niagara Falls and the dilapidated motel her family used to run. While there, she finds herself drawn once again into a mystery that has haunted her since childhood: what happened to the young boy she saw being violently abducted in the woods twenty-five years ago? As Abby sets out to find out the truth, she must confront both a shocking, long-buried conspiracy that runs as deep as the falls themselves as well as her own inner demons.
‘Fire Island’ (Hulu)
Set in the iconic Fire Island Pines, Fire Island is an unapologetic, modern day rom-com inspired by Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. The story centers around two best friends (Joel Kim Booster and Bowen Yang) who set out to have a legendary week-long summer vacation with the help of cheap rosé and a cadre of eclectic friends.
‘Daughters of Darkness’ (Shudder)
In this 1971 erotic Euro-horror classic, a pair of newlyweds become the targets of the vampire Countess Bathory and her female lover, who’ve been draining local vixens of their blood for centuries. But the Countess has bigger plans for the couple, and so she begins cleverly pitting them against each other until she can strike. Arthouse icon Delphine Seyrig’s Dietrich-meets-DeSade-ian embodiment of the Countess and director Harry Kümel’s chilling fusion of surreal and expressionist horror elements helped turn DOD into a critical success and a still-treasured cult hit.
‘Floor is Lava (Season 2)’ (Netflix)
Floor is Lava is back with bigger obstacles, higher stakes, and even hotter lava. New this season – a huge and very slippery volcano that takes the competition to the next level.

‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ (Paramount+)
Paramount+ continues its all-in approach to the Star Trek universe with yet another series to add the franchise. This latest is based on the years Captain Christopher Pike manned the helm of the U.S.S. Enterprise. The series will feature fan favorites from season two of Star Trek: Discovery. Anson Mount as Captain Christopher Pike, Rebecca Romijn as Number One and Ethan Peck as Science Officer Spock. The series will follow Captain Pike, Science Officer Spock and Number One in the years before Captain Kirk boarded the U.S.S. Enterprise, as they explore new worlds around the galaxy. ‘We Own This City’ (HBO Max)
A miniseries exploring the deep systemic corruption inherent in law enforcement, We Own This City details the rise and fall of the Baltimore Police Department’s Gun Trace Task Force. Directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, the series is based on the book of the same name by Baltimore Sun reporter Justin Fenton. All episodes are now streaming.
‘Tehran (Season 2)’ (AppleTV+)
Tamar (Niv Sultan) is a Mossad hacker-agent who infiltrates Tehran under a false identity to help destroy Iran’s nuclear reactor. But when the mission fails and she’s trapped in a new life, Tamar must plan an operation that will place everyone dear to her in jeopardy. Glenn Close joins the second season. ‘The Baby’ (HBO Max)
The new limited series blends horror and comedy in a surrealist study on motherhood. When a controlling baby with violent powers mysteriously lands in Natasha’s (Michelle de Swarte) lap, she must figure out how to wrestle her life back: She doesn’t want a baby. The baby wants her. ‘Shining Girls’ (Apple TV+)
Based on Lauren Beukes’ best-selling novel, Shining Girls follows Kirby Mazrachi (Moss) as a Chicago newspaper archivist whose journalistic ambitions were put on hold after enduring a traumatic assault. Years after a brutal attack left her in a constantly shifting reality, Kirby Mazrachi learns that a recent murder is linked to her assault. She teams with veteran reporter Dan Velazquez (played by Wagner Moura) to understand her ever-changing present—and confront her past. All episodes are now streaming.
‘Barry (Season 3)’ (HBO Max)
Desperate to leave his violent past behind in favor of his newfound passion, Barry (Hader) is attempting to untangle himself from the world of contract killing and fully immerse himself in acting. But getting out is messy. While Barry has eliminated many of the external factors that pushed him towards violence, he soon discovers they weren’t the only forces at play. ‘Under the Banner of Heaven’ (Hulu)
Under the Banner of Heaven is an original limited series inspired by the true crime bestseller by Jon Krakauer, which follows the events that led to the 1984 murder of Brenda Wright Lafferty and her baby daughter in a suburb in the Salt Lake Valley, Utah. As Detective Jeb Pyre (Andrew Garfield) investigates events that transpired within the Lafferty family, he uncovers buried truths about the origins of the LDS religion and the violent consequences of unyielding faith. What Pyre, a devout Mormon, unearths leads him to question his own faith. All episodes are now streaming.
‘The Offer’ (Paramount+)
This biographical dramatic miniseries tells the true story of producer Al Ruddy’s (Miles Teller) experience of making the 1972 film The Godfather with Francis Ford Coppola. From development to production, the series lays out the process of creating one of the greatest films of all time. The first eight episodes are now streaming.
‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ (Disney+)
The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith” where Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat—the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader. The series stars Ewan McGregor, reprising his role as the iconic Jedi Master, and also marks the return of Hayden Christensen in the role of Darth Vader. The first three episodes are now streaming.
