‘The Lincoln Lawyer (Season 2 Volume 1)’ (Netflix)

LA’s Hottest Defense Attorney is Back for Season 2! The Lincoln Lawyer, Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), an iconoclastic idealist, runs his law practice out of the back seat of his Lincoln, as he takes on cases big and small across the expansive city of Los Angeles. Based on the series of bestselling novels by renowned author Michael Connelly, the second season is based on the fourth book in The Lincoln Lawyer series, The Fifth Witness. ‘Aftersun’ (Paramount+)

Twenty years after their last holiday at a fading vacation resort, Sophie (Frankie Corio) reflects on the rare time spent with her loving and idealistic father, Calum (Paul Mescal). At 11-years-old, as the world of adolescence creeps into view, beyond her eye Calum struggles under the weight of life outside of fatherhood. Sophie’s recollections become a powerful and heartrending portrait of their relationship, as she tries to reconcile the father she knew with the man she didn’t, in Charlotte Wells’ superb and searingly emotional debut film. Mescal was nominated for an Oscar for his performance.

‘The Quiet Girl’ (Hulu)

The Quiet Girl is a delicate drama that follows a shy nine-year-old (Catherine Clinch) who has been separated from her immediate family and left in the care of two distant relatives for the summer. After sun-dappled days spent milking cows, peeling potatoes and fetching water from the well, the Initially uncommunicative child soon opens up to her foster parents. Textural and tender, this award-winning film shows that home is where you feel loved. This film was also nominated at the Oscars for Best International Feature Film.
